Planning Process
Illinois State University has a culture of integrated planning and aligns its priorities with the strategic plan, Excellence by Design: 2024-2029. The University is currently in the process of developing an implementation plan and action plan to support the recently approved strategic plan.
Strategic Planning Steering Team
A Strategic Planning Steering Team, comprised of representation across the University serves as the lead over this process.

The Strategic Planning Steering Team charged 16 action teams to develop actions and metrics in support of the goals and objectives within each of the four strategic directions:
- Cultivate a Culture of Success and Belonging
- Foster a Culture of Responsible Stewardship
- Elevate Our Institutional Excellence
- Expand Mutually Beneficial Partnerships
An Action Plan is currently being developed.
